Doris Iarovici's short story collection, American Dreaming and Other Stories, published in fall 2005, won the Novello Literary Award and two other honors. Her short fiction received the Crab Orchard Review’s Jack Dyer Prize and was nominated for a Pushcart. She has been a fellow at VCCA and Vermont Studio Center. Her non-fiction book, Mental Health Issues and the University Student, was published in 2014; her essays have appeared in the New York Times and elsewhere. A psychiatrist at Duke University, she is at work on a new novel, Born Lucky.
